    Dcpos can be presented by preorders of generators and inequational relations expressed as covers. Algebraic operations on the generators (possibly with their results being ideals of generators) can be extended to the dcpo presented, provided the covers are “stable” for the operations. The resulting dcpo algebra has a natural universal characterization and satisfies all the inequational laws satisfied by the generating algebra. Applications include known “coverage theorems” from locale theory

    Coherence and Consistency in Domains (Extended Outline)

    Almost all of the categories normally used as a mathematical foundation for denotational semantics satisfy a condition known as consistent completeness. The goal of this paper is to explore the possibility of using a different condition - that of coherence - which has its origins in topology and logic. In particular, we concentrate on those posets whose principal ideals are algebraic lattices and whose topologies are coherent. These form a cartesian closed category which has fixed points for domain equations. It is shown that a universal domain exists. Since the construction of this domain seems to be of general significance, a categorical treatment is provided and its relationship to other applications discussed

    Spin conductivity in almost integrable spin chains

    The spin conductivity in the integrable spin-1/2 XXZ-chain is known to be infinite at finite temperatures T for anisotropies -1 < Delta < 1. Perturbations which break integrability, e.g. a next-nearest neighbor coupling J', render the conductivity finite. We construct numerically a non-local conserved operator J_parallel which is responsible for the finite spin Drude weight of the integrable model and calculate its decay rate for small J'. This allows us to obtain a lower bound for the spin conductivity sigma_s >= c(T) / J'^2, where c(T) is finite for J' to 0. We discuss the implication of our result for the general question how non-local conservation laws affect transport properties.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
